Physics System of Particles Rotational Motion Moment of Inertia MCQ (Single Correct)

One solid sphere A and another hollow sphere B are of same mass and same outer radii. Their moment of inertia about their diameters are respectively Ι A and Ι B such that :

A
Ι A = Ι B
B
Ι A > Ι B

The correct answer is:
C

Let same mass and same outer radii of solid sphere and hollow sphere are M and R respectively.

The moment the moment of inertia of hollow sphere (spherical shell) B about its diameter

Ι A = MR 2 ...................(i)

Similarly the moment of inertia of hollow sphere (spherical shell) B about its diameter

Ι B = MR 2 ...................(ii)

Ι t is clear from eqs. (i) and (ii) , Ι A < Ι B
